§ Mr. Greenwayasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what is the outcome of the review of the Centre for Information on Language Teaching and Research which he-announced on 12 July 1985.
§ Sir Keith JosephIn the light of many constructive responses to the Department's consultation, I have written to the chairman of CILT proposing a framework for its work aimed at strengthening its impact, particularly in the schools sector, and inviting him to take specific action to translate this framework into a programme of work. CILT's governing body has considered these proposals and agreed that they should form the basis of the organisation's future activities. Copies of the exchange of correspondence have been placed in the Library.
I am grateful to the chairman and members of the governing body for the time and effort they have given to the work of CILT and to those, bodies which responded to the consultation.
