asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will estimate the maximum electricity output of the projected Severn barrage.

Two sites have been studied by the Severn tidal power group for a possible tidal energy barrage in the Severn estuary. The estimate for a barrage at the Cardiff-Weston super Mare site is an average annual energy output of approximately 14 Terrawatt hours. The estimate for the second site close to the Severn bridge is an average annual energy output of approximately 3 Terrawatt hours.
