HC Deb 25 March 1986 vol 94 c410W
Mr. Peter Bruinvels

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the progress of negotiations with the United States Administration on proposals to end the requirement for all United Kingdom citizens to obtain a visa to enter the United States of America.

Mr. Eggar

An Immigration Bill, which includes a provision for the establishment of a pilot programme to waive the non-immigrant visa requirement, is under consideration in the United States Congress. We expect that if a pilot programme were to be adopted, the United Kingdom would be one of the countries covered by it.
