§ 54. Mr. Lawlerasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what information he has about the number of housing authorities which are not making full use of their spending powers in the current year.
§ Sir George YoungOutturn figures for the current year are not yet available. In 1984–85, 16 local authorities reported prescribed expenditure on housing which was less than the amount of their housing investment programme allocation; and 128 reported prescribed expenditure which was less than the combined spending power available to them from their housing investment programme allocation and the prescribed proportion of the capital receipts generated from housing during that year. It is not known how many other authorities had prescribed expenditure which was less than the combined spending power available to them from these sources and from the unspent portion of receipts in earlier years.
