HC Deb 18 March 1986 vol 94 c173W
34. Mr. Nicholls

asked the Paymaster General if he will make it his policy to refuse supplementary benefits to those who reject an offer of training under the YTS; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Trippier

The small number of young people who unreasonably refuse a suitable place on YTS risk having their supplementary benefit reduced in the same way as those who unreasonably refuse a suitable offer of employment. Each case is judged individually on its merits by the independent adjudicating authorities. I am sure that this is the right approach, and there are no plans to change the current rules.
