§ Mr. GummerHolding facilities for animals subject to our rabies control arrangements are maintained at selected sea and airports by the port authorities, as recommended by the Waterhouse committee. Such facilities must conform with the Ministry's specifications and are regularly inspected.

Friend the Secretary of State for the Home Department do not separately identify prosecutions under the Transit of Animals Order 1973 which applies to Great Britain. However, information available to my Ministry, which may be incomplete, indicates that the following numbers of prosecutions under the order were brought in the years in question:
