§ Mr. Rathboneasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will list for 1986–87 all major sea defence works and the Government's contribution to each under the Land Drainage Act 1976.
§ Mr. GummerUnder the Land Drainage Act 1976 it is for drainage authorities to decide which sea defence schemes they choose to undertake and submit to the Department for approval in order to obtain grant-aid. We cannot predict when water authorities or local authorities will start approved schemes or the likely progress of work. The following schemes, however, have already commenced and are expected to continue in 1986–87. Grant rates for water authorities for 1986–87 have yet to be confirmed.
