§ Mr. John Fraserasked the Secretary of State for the Environment when he expects the St. Barnabas community centre, Bristol, to be available for use by the local community; and if he will make a statement.
§ Sir George YoungThe centre was completed by Avon county council in November 1984 and has been available for use since then. However, the St. Paul's community association declines to use the building until certain defects are remedied and improvements made.
Recently the county council, whose responsibility this is, submitted an application to my Department for extra funding and this is being considered. I understand that the county council expect the centre to be in full use towards the end of this year.
