§ Q73. Mr. Dalyellasked the Prime Minister if, pursuant to her reply of 18 December, Official Report, column 160, she will clarify the role of Mr. Gallagher Daggitt of the Department of Education and Science in the strategic defence initiative participation office.
§ The Prime MinisterMr. Gallagher Daggitt, who has been seconded to the strategic defence initiative participation office in the Ministry of Defence, has special responsibilities within the office for explaining to higher education institutions and the research councils the opportunities for their participation in the United States strategic defence initiative research programme; and for 213W liaising between the Ministry of Defence and the Department of Education and Science on strategic defence initiative matters.
