§ Mr. EggarWe have normal diplomatic relations with Chile. But we leave the Chilean Government in no doubt about our concerns over their continuing human rights176W violations, and our wish to see an orderly restoration of full democracy in Chile. We consider that President Pinochet's rejection, last December, of dialogue with the democratic opposition has done nothing to improve prospects.

§ Mr. EggarThe following Foreign and Commonwealth Office officials have visited Chile in the last 12 months: the head of South America department, a member of research department, and an economic adviser. There have been no ministerial visits.
