§ Mr. McNamaraasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is the size of the present prison population in Northern Ireland divided into terrorist type offenders and other offenders categorised by age and sex in the following groups: under 18 years old, 18 to 25 years, 25 to 30 years, 30 to 40 years, 40 to 50 years, 50 to 60 years and over 60 years; and if he will give a breakdown of the length of sentence being served by each age group.
§ Mr. Scott[pursuant to his reply, 28 February 1986, c. 728.]: At 9 February 1986 there was a total of 1,653 sentenced prisoners in Northern Ireland prison establishments. This figure includes inmates in the young offenders centre.
The breakdown of the population is as follows:
