§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will introduce an augmented level of child benefit to recompense parents whose children take sizes of clothing or shoes which attract value added tax liability.
§ Mr. NewtonChild benefit has always been regarded as a general contribution towards the cost of bringing up a child. There are no plans to change this approach.
