§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list the guidelines which he has issued to the police forces of Wales concerning the circumstances of their use of the Welsh language.
§ Mr. Giles ShawThe code of practice for the detention, treatment and questioning of persons by police officers issued under section 66 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 makes provision for the interviewing by the police of persons who have difficulty understanding English or where the officer cannot speak the person's own language. The codes of practice have been made available in the Welsh language to chief officers of police in Wales.
