HC Deb 25 June 1986 vol 100 c232W
68. Mr. McCrindle

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on the condition of the housing stock.

Sir George Young

The 1981 English house condition survey showed that out of 18.1 million dwellings 1.1 million were unfit, 0.9 million lacked basic amenities and 1 million required repairs costing more than £7,000. A more up to date picture will be provided by the 1986 survey which starts this September.
