HC Deb 23 June 1986 vol 100 c62W
Mr. Stephen Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Transport when he now expects to receive the report of the inspector following the public inquiry into the Settle to Carlisle railway line closure proposal.

Mr. David Mitchell

The transport users' consultative committees for north-eastern and north-western England have, in accordance with provisions in section 56 of the Transport Act 1962, held public hearings into the British Railways Board's closure proposal. I understand that the TUCCs expect to be able to submit a joint report to my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State later this year.
