HC Deb 23 June 1986 vol 100 c61W
Mr. Snape

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what percentage of heavy goods vehicles involved in spot checks by his Department's inspectors on the M2 during the week commencing 9 June were (a) towed away as being unroadworthy, (b) subject to instant prohibition and (c) found to have other serious defects.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

No spot checks were conducted on the M2 at that time. On 12 June, 28 vehicles were checked at Falconwood on the A2: four were immediately prohibited; seven were given a delayed prohibition. I do not know how many were towed away.
