HC Deb 23 June 1986 vol 100 c9W
Mr. Steen

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many estates have been improved under the priority estates projects in each of the last three years; at what cost; and if he will make a statement.

Sir George Young

During the last three years the priority estates project has worked with local authorities to improve and localise management on 28 estates.

In 1983–84, three projects were under way; 17 began in 1984–85; and eight in 1985–86. Work with all but the original three projects is continuing. The direct costs of the priority estates project in these three years, including national advisory and promotional work drawing experience from the 28 estate schemes, was £530,000.
