§ Mr. Bruceasked the Secretary of State for Energy what is the total capacity of the generating stations for England and Wales; what is the capacity in each of the 12 area boards in England and Wales; and what is the maximum recorded demand for electricity in England and Wales and for each of the 12 area boards.

Generating Capacity ( England and Wales)
The declared net capability of the Central Electricity Generating Board at 31 March 1985 was 51,127 MW sent out (MWSO). Generation capacity operated by the 12 area boards was negligible.
Maximum Recorded Demand (England and Wales)
The maximum demand on the CEGB was 46,219 MWSO on 17 January 1985. The recorded figures for maximum demands on each of the 12 area boards during 1984–85 were as follows:
