§ Mr. Stanbrookasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will list the dates from which war service credits were made payable to pensioners of the Home Civil Service, local government, police, local education authorities and other public services, respectively.
§ Mr. BrookeProvision for civil servants to reckon war service for pension purposes was made in the Superannuation Act 1946. The arrangements apply to those who entered service before 1 July 1950. Similar arrangements have been introduced by other public services for those who were in employment or retirement on the following operative dates.

§ Mr. BrookeThe general basis for the public services is that war service rendered from age 18 reckons at half its length for pension purposes for those who entered service before 1 July 1950. Beneficiaries are required to pay appropriate contributions.
