HC Deb 12 June 1986 vol 99 c279W
17. Mr. Jessel

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many staff in his Department work on monitoring food prices to consumers.

Mrs. Fenner

The last control on retail food prices, that on liquid milk, was removed by this Government in January 1985. There is therefore no need for my Department to monitor food prices to consumers other than to ensure compliance with any European Community regulations. A small number of staff, representing less than one man year, will be checking prices of concentrated butter in retail outlets.
