HC Deb 03 June 1986 vol 98 c510W
Mr. Clay

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the number of dwellings needing capital works of renovation in (a) the borough of Sunderland and (b) all other local authorities in the northern region, as estimated by "The Inquiry into the Condition of the Local Authority Housing Stock in England: 1985"; and what are the estimated costs of such works in (a) the borough of Sunderland and (b) all other local authorities in the northern region.

Sir George Young

Local authorities responded to the inquiry on the understanding that their figures would be used only in aggregate form and not published by the Department at the individual authority level. In the northern region, the inquiry indicated that 302,300 dwellings require renovation at an estimated total cost of £1,426 million.
