Mr. Austin Mitchell

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will publish in the Official Report a table showing for each year since 1970 the Government's income from the Bank of England; and what information he has over the same period on the German Government's income from the German Central Bank.

I assume that the hon. Member is referring to the payments which the Bank of England makes to the Treasury in lieu of dividend under section 1(4) of the Bank of England Act 1946. The amounts paid are published in the Bank of England's report and accounts, as follows:
