In the light of the reply given to the Lord Bishop of Southwark on 3rd June 1986 [H.L. Deb, Col. 694]: (a) in how many prisons and institutions in the South-East region of the Prison Service were workshops, education classes and gymnasium sessions temporarily closed or cancelled on 18th July 1986; (b) what were the similar figures for 19th July 1986: and (c) how many prisoners, as a result, had no opportunity for work, education or physical education on 18th and 19th July 1986, respectively.
§ Lord GlenarthurWorkshops and education classes are not open on Saturdsys (19th July), although there is normally provision for voluntary physical education. Information about temporary closures or cancellations of workshops and education facilities on 18th July is not available centrally and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
