Mr. Madden

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) how many people were temporarily admitted to the United Kingdom (a) after refusal of leave to enter and (b) pending further examination in 1984; and if he will publish a table showing the nationality of those temporarily admitted in each category;

(2) how many people absconded after a grant of temporary admission in 1984.
