Mr. D. E. Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will outline the nature and extent of the review of his Department's peacetime emergency plans following the Chernobyl disaster; whether, when completed, he intends to publish it; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Moore

The Department is playing its pat in the Government's examination of the impact of the Chernobyl incident for civil contingency planning.

In the light of this review, any changes to contingency plans will be notified to those involved.
