Mr. Ron Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement about Alec Archibald, the Scot held by the Thai authorities.

Mr. Eggar

Mr. Archibald was sentenced under Thai law to a cumulative total of three years and nine months for a number of offences. He has since been sentenced to serve an additional nine months and is now expected to be discharged from prison on the 17 of September 1988.
