HC Deb 25 July 1986 vol 102 c709W
Mr. Aspinwall

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how much is being spent on health services in Avon during the current year; and what was the comparable figure in 1978–79.

Mr. Hayhoe

The annual accounts of health authorities within the county of Avon and those of the Avon family practitioner committee show total expenditure of £117.2 million for 1978–79 and £250.9 million for 1984–85 (the latest year available). This is an increase in real terms of 20 per cent.

The figures include capital expenditure by the South Western regional health authority on services for the district health authorities in Avon but exclude expenditure on services for the region as a whole.
