asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many farms on Anglesey had sheep with radiocaesium levels in excess of 1,000 b/kg throughout the currency of the ban on sales.

Results of tests on lambs have shown levels of caesium above 1,000 b/kg on four farms in Anglesey.

asked the Secretary of State for Wales when he next expects to meet the farmers' unions to discuss compensation for sheep farmers whose flocks are affected by high radiation levels; and if he will make a statement.

I met the two farming unions and the Country Landowners' Association when I attended the Royal Welsh Show on Tuesday 22 July.

asked the Secretary of State for Wales (1) what basis of compensation for sheep farmers whose flocks are affected by high radiation levels has been proposed to him by the farmers' unions; and if he will make a statement;

(2) if he is yet in a position to announce the basis of compensation for sheep farmers affected by the ban on sales; and if he will make a statement;

(3) what proposals he has for giving assistance to those sheep farmers on Anglesey still affected by the ban on sales.
