asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what recent representations he has received seeking a change in the law on Sunday trading.

Mr. Waddington

Since the rejection of the Government's Bill on 15 April, we have received 48 representations seeking reform of the law on Sunday trading and two representations that maximum fines for breaches of Sunday trading regulations should be increased.

28. Mr. Freud

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the Government's current policy towards Sunday trading.

32. Mr. Neil Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he plans any further evaluation of Sunday trading.

70. Sir M. Fox

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is Her Majesty's Government's policy towards the partial deregulation of Sunday trading.

In view of the recent rejection of the Government's Bill to deregulate shop opening hours, the Government have no plans at present to carry out any further review or to introduce new legislation.
