HC Deb 24 July 1986 vol 102 cc454-5W
Mr. Straw

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what information he has in respect of the British Airports Authority, British Airways, the British Railways Board, the British Waterways Board, the Civil Aviation Authority and the National Bus Company as to the total amount spent on the acquisition of goods and services, expressed in terms of net contract prices; and how many individual contracts comprised that volume of purchasing for each of the five years for which figures are available, giving both the overall totals in each case, and the totals disaggregated into the following categories (a) capital and revenue expenditure, (b) construction and non-construction projects, (c) goods and services purchased from United Kingdom-based companies and non-United Kingdom-based companies and (d) goods and services purchased from the private sector and other parts of the public sector.

Mr. Moore

My Department does not maintain records of the kind of information requested by the hon. Member, apart from that which is published in the industries' own annual reports and accounts, copies of which are available in the Library. My Department is not responsible for the British Waterways Board; questions about its activities should be directed to my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment.
