§ Mrs. McCurleyasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statememt on the latest meeting of the European Economic Community Budget Council.
§ Mr. BrookeThe Budget Council met in Brussels on 21–22 July. I served as chairman and my hon. Friend the Economic Secretary represented the United Kingdom.
The Council discussed the proposals put forward by the Commission in its preliminary draft budget for 1987. No agreement was reached, and the Council will meet again on 8–9 September with a view to establishing a draft budget for 1987.
