HC Deb 07 July 1986 vol 101 c76W
Mr. Pavitt

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how the British delegation voted at the World Health Organisation meeting in Geneva on 14 June on the motion calling on its members to abate the incidence of smoking by the end of the century; what further steps he proposes to implement this decision; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Whitney

The United Kingdom voted in favour of the resolution at the World Health Assembly in May and we are seeking to implement a wide range of policies in line with the World Health Organisation's objective to reduce smoking.
