HC Deb 07 July 1986 vol 101 c24W
24. Mr. Rost

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will make a statement on the progress being made by the electricity boards and the Central Electricity Generating Board in implementing their obligations, under the Energy Act 1983, to adopt and support combined heat and power district heating.

Mr. David Hunt

The electricity supply industry is seeking to identify economic CHP projects in line with the provisions of the Energy Act 1983 and its other statutory duties. Since 1983 boards have appraised 19 potential CHP projects of which five CHP/district heating schemes remain under active consideration. They are also involved in a number of CHP schemes which predate the Act; they have, in addition, offered specialist advice on request to potential investors in CHP.
