HC Deb 04 July 1986 vol 100 c667W
Mr. Deakins

asked the Paymaster General what is the official definition of part-time employment.

Mr. Lang

Part-time employment is not defined as such in employment legislation. The criterion most widely used in the Department of Employment's statistics is whether an individual works 30 hours a week or less, excluding overtime, but other definitions are also in use.
