§ Mr. Kenneth BakerTotal public expenditure on education in the United Kingdom was 5.1 per cent. of gross domestic product in 1984–85. Final figures for 1985–86 are not yet available, but on the basis of estimates published in the public expenditure White Paper and the financial statement and Budget report, outturn for public expenditure on education in that year represents 4.8 per cent. of gross domestic product.
