§ 43. Mr. Hirstasked the Solicitor-General for Scotland how many prosecutions took place in 1985 in Strathclyde for serious crimes involving violence; and if he will make a statement.
§ The Solicitor-General for ScotlandThe provisional figure available for 1985 is 2,473 persons proceeded against. The Government welcome the fact that, overall, crime in Strathclyde has decreased but are concerned that there has been an increase in serious crimes of violence. Every effort possible will be made by this Government to support the law enforcement agencies in combating this problem.
