asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many jobs were created by the Northern Ireland Industrial Development Board in 1985; and if the board met its target of new jobs for this year.

In the calendar year 1985, the IDB promoted 3,966 new jobs in Northern Ireland. The target for new job promotions in the financial year 1985–86 is 5,750.

This has proved a difficult period for investment but at present it is not possible to say whether or not the target will be achieved.
