§ Mr. Norrisasked the Prime Minister if she will indicate the Government's intentions with regard to the work of the plain English unit of the Management and Personnel Office; and if she will make a statement as to her appraisal of the work of the unit.
§ The Prime MinisterI have asked the Management and Personnel Office to continue with the work of the central forms unit and to report again in 1987 on Departments' efforts to improve Government forms. Since 1982 Departments have abolished some 15,700 forms altogether and redesigned a further 21,300. Last year alone 35,000 forms were reviewed. The central forms unit has played an important role in this achievement.
