§ Mr. John MacKayThe report of the working party on Incapax patients funds which was published in July 1983 reminded health boards that there is much scope for improving the quality of life for patients who are incapable of managing their own affairs by making fuller use of the funds to which they are entitled; and guidelines were suggested as to how this was to be achieved. The report stressed, however, that patients' funds should not be used to purchase goods or services which would normally be provided by the National Health Service. It is for Greater Glasgow health board to indicate the basis on which the purchase of items of furniture is to be charged to individual patients' funds at Leverndale hospital.
