asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many new companies have been registered in Wales in each year since 1983.

All companies incorporated in England and Wales are registered at Cardiff. No separate statistics are kept of those who have their registered offices in Wales or in any other area. The Registrar of Companies estimates that about 2 per cent. of companies incorporated (currently at the rate of 100,000 per year) have their registered offices in Wales.
