§ Mr. Harrisonasked the Secretary of State for Defence what procedure the National Radiological Protection Board has developed on circulation of the questionnaire sent to nuclear veterans who served on Christmas Island; and what further questionnaire is sent out when the personnel involved on the nuclear tests are already deceased and the cause of death is identified as cancer.
§ Mr. Norman LamontThe Ministry of Defence has commissioned the National Radiological Protection Board to carry out a survey on its behalf of the health of United Kingdom participants in the British atmospheric nuclear weapon test programmes both on Christmas Island and in Australia. However, the procedures by which the national Radiological Protection Board carries out the survey are a matter for the board, and I have asked the board to write to the right hon. Member in answer to this question.
