HC Deb 25 February 1986 vol 92 c515W
Mr. Martin

asked the Solicitor-General for Scotland why there was a delay in making public the burglary at the procurator fiscal's office in Glasgow on 2 January.

The Solicitor-General for Scotland

Premature disclosure might have hampered investigations which were begun immediately and which continue. There was also concern that publication of details of the break in or lines of inquiry being pursued might be prejudicial to the rights of accused persons to a fair trial.

Mr. Martin

asked the Solicitor-General for Scotland following the theft from the procurator fiscal's office in Glasgow, what steps are being taken to improve security.

The Solicitor-General for Scotland

A full review of security arrangements in the premises occupied by all procurators fiscal is underway, and a number of changes have already been implemented.
