§ Mr. Teddy Taylor
asked the Paymaster General how many notifiable accidents and deaths, respectively, were recorded over the most recent annual period for which figures are available in the operation, respectively, of coal fired, oil fired and nuclear power stations; and how many were notified in respect of coal-mining operations.
§ Mr. Trippier
[pursuant to his reply, 24 February 1986]: Information is not available in the form requested and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
For the electricity industry as a whole, in 1984, there were 11 deaths and 89 major injuries reported to the Health and Safety Executive arising as a result of or in connection with work activities.
Comparable figures for the coal mining industry were 19 deaths and 273 major injuries.
