Mr. George Robertson

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs which British embassies in Warsaw pact countries have commercial counsellors; and, where there is none, when their last one was in post.

There is a full-time commercial counsellor in Her Majesty's embassy, Moscow. In other Warsaw pact countries commercial work is handled at first secretary level, the commercial counsellors having been withdrawn from Bucharest, East Berlin and Warsaw in 1982 and from Prague, Sofia and Budapest more than ten years ago.
