asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will state, in view of the fact that the United Kingdom signed the convention on discrimination against women in 1981 and the Minister of State announced on 20th June 1985 that it would be shortly ratified with some reservations, when they will ratify the convention.

We intend to complete the preparation of the instrument of ratification in the week beginning 17th March 1986 and deposit it with the Secretary-General of the United Nations as soon as possible thereafter.
