Mr. Proctor

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the value of the major capital works undertaken and currently planned in the last five years by the North-East Thames regional health authority; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Whitney

The value of major capital schemes, each costing over £5 million, completed in the North-East Thames region during the period 1981–85 is £63.4 million.

At present, the estimated value of such schemes either in planning or under construction is £56 million.
