§ Dr. BoysonThe youth enterprise scheme, which is administered by Practical Action in Northern Ireland, is an excellent example of the private and public sectors pooling their resources to provide help for young people wishing to start their own businesses. The scheme is designed to create a more supportive environment for such young people by providing funding, equipment and professional advice. The Local Enterprise Development Unit, Northern Ireland's small firms agency, fully supports the initiative and is making available £300,000 over the next three years to assist the scheme on condition that this is matched on a pound-for-pound basis by the private sector.
