§ Mr. Dalyellasked the Prime Minister with whom ministerial responsibility lies for disciplinary action against civil servants in the Cabinet Office.
§ The Prime MinisterI am Minister with departmental responsibility for the Cabinet Office; I am assisted in the day-to-day discharge of this responsibility by the Minister of State, Privy Council Office. Disciplinary powers are exercised, in the Cabinet Office as in other Departments, by the permanent head of the Department.
§ Mr. Dalyellasked the Prime Minister if she will list the activities of the Cabinet Office for which she doe not have ministerial responsibility.
§ The Prime MinisterI have departmental responsibility for all of the activities of the Cabinet Office, with the exception of the Civil Service Commissioners who have certain independent responsibilities under Orders in Council.
