§ Mr. DunnAs announced in the Gracious Speech, a Bill will be introduced this Session to reform the composition of school governing bodies and to clarify their functions. The Government's policies in these matters are set out in chapter 9 of the White Paper "Better Schools" (Cmnd. 9469). In particular, the proposals provide for parents to be more involved in the running of their children's schools: the parental voice will be strengthened on the governing body; and that body will be required to account annually to all parents with a report and meeting.
