asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a statement on the recent deputation to him from prominent Roman Catholics regarding the implications of the House of Lords decision in the Gillick case and on his response to the deputation.

I met a deputation from the Catholic Bishops Conference of England and Wales on 5 December last year, and am taking account of the points they raised in connection with the proposed revision of our guidance on family planning services for young people.
